The D-Day Dodgers. My Grandfather was a Dodger, he fought in some vicious battles in Italy before losing his life at Minturno in 1944. As the D-Day Dodgers song goes " Look around the hillsides, Through the mist and rain, See the scattered crosses, Some that bear no name. Heartbreak and toil and suffering gone, The lads beneath, they slumber on. They are the D-Day Dodgers, Who'll stay in Italy. " I feel that the Italian Campaign of WW2 is often overlooked
